At Mount Stromlo Observatory you can see spectacular views over Canberra and the Brindabellas and make use of the barbeque and picnic facilities.

Discover the site's history; from its use as a World War II optical munitions factory to the Observatory's post-2003 recovery. Or take an interactive heritage walk with the smartphone app.

Stroll past the only operational research telescope at the Stromlo Satellite Laser Ranging Observatory, part of the Australian National University's site.

Really cool place it's so cool and has gorgeous views. Tones of kangaroos and a great cafe+gift shop.

“Lovely to wander around”

The place was all closed down but great to visit. Good walks around, good views of the surrounding area and a good preslude to a subsequent visit to 'the Dish' at Parkes. Very interesting.

This site is really only for astronomy buffs. If that's not you, then don't come here. The site was well laid out, with lots to see. There was a path and signage explaining the various points. Only...
